When elliptical treadmills first arrived onto the fitness scene they were large bulky machines that only a health club with deep pockets could afford. Many people flocked to these machines to reap the low impact high intensity workouts that they were not getting on the treadmill or stationary bike. While many of these people wished for affordable ellipticals they could use in their home there were just none available at the time.
Fast forward many years and affordable ellipticals are now available everywhere, but beware they are not all the same. So how do you know if the machine you want to buy is a good elliptical treadmill that will keep you happy for many years or just a cheaply made item you will never use? For starters if you are interested in a machine with a lot of functions and electronic options then you may need to look at higher end models. The basic ellipticals usually have your standard timers and heart rate functions and not much more. You will also want to gauge the feel of the machine, many affordable ellipticals may feel a tad weak and flimsy so be sure you put the machine through its paces on the showroom floor before you commit to buy!
Shopping for affordable ellipticals should not be rocket science, it's basic job is to get your heart rate up and work your body so try not to make much harder then it needs to be! But also keep in mind when it comes to fitness equipment you generally get your dollars worth so do not buy an affordable elliptical just because of a low price. instead examine any potential machines you are interested in, try them out and buy the one that feels good to you and not just to your wallet!
